High Fructose Corn Syrup aka Sweet Poison

Hopefully you are an avid label reader, particularly the ingredient list on packaged foods and drinks.  High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is practically everywhere and there is NOTHING to recommend it.  But there are plenty of reasons to avoid it.

It’s getting such bad press that the Corn Refiners Association is re-labeling it to the “healthier” sounding name of Corn Sugar.  Same thing, same junk.

HFCS is more difficult for your body to breakdown than sugar, it’s processed using mercury, it makes you and your liver fat, it’s sweeter tasting than sugar so it keeps you craving sweets….it’s just bad news all the way around.

If you want more details read what Dr Mark Hyman has to say about it in his post called 5 Reasons High Fructose Corn Syrup Will Kill You

HFCS does not occur in nature – it is a man made Frankenstein sweetener.  And it’s hooked the entire country – especially the kids.

Read ingredient lists!  The devil (HFCS, in this case) is in the details.
