Eating Seasonally – Why it’s so good for you

We use to eat seasonally without even thinking about it.  In prior generations, we ate what was available in any given season and when that season was over those foods were gone.  But along would come the next season and we’d eat all the foods that flourished at that time of year.  Then those foods would be gone and into the next season we’d go.  Variety was a given.  And variety means you’re covering all the bases when it comes to vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, phyto-nutrients, etc.

But today, all foods are available all the time.  And we get into a rut and eat the same foods over and over.  Even worse is how BEIGE our diet has become – for many people their diet totally lacks color.  And color is where it’s at!

Further, eating the same foods over and over leads to food sensitivities, epecially gluten and dairy.

So, step out of your box and eat a rainbow of colors.  Mix it up.  Change it up.  Your body will thank you.
