Eat with the Seasons – Mother Nature’s version of the rotation diet

Mother Nature has provided us with the perfect rotation diet – eat what’s in season.   And when that season is over and those foods are gone, eat the foods that are abundant in the next season.   It’s a win win situation.  Not only do you end up eating a variety of different foods, it can be a natural way to control food sensitivities.

Food sensitivities are a growing problem for many.  Often, it’s because we get stuck in a rut of eating the same foods all the time, over and over again.  This is a recipe for developing sensitivities to many commonly eaten foods.  Just because an orange can be made available to you all year long doesn’t necessarily mean you should eat oranges all year long.

Years ago we only ate what was grown in season and grown locally.   Variety in our diet happened all on it’s own.  I’m guessing food sensitivities were not very prevalent back then.

As I mentioned in last week’s post, your local farmer’s markets are open for business.  Go see what’s in season in your neck of the woods.
