A cereal we like.

I’m not a fan of most breakfast cereals.   And we’ve pretty much banned them from the house.

Reason:  Most cereals fall into the category of highly processed grains.
And HIGHLY PROCESSED GRAINS = SUGAR in the body.

And that’s the problem. Even if additional sugar isn’t added to a cereal (don’t eat those cereals), the highly processed grains of most cereals breakdown into sugar (glucose) in your blood stream.

Excess sugar is both fattening and toxic to the body.  Read my earlier post on this subject.

Back to this morning’s breakfast.

If a bowl of cereal fits the bill now and again make it a healthy cereal.

We just discovered Uncle Sam’s.  Although, it’s been around since 1908.

There are only 4 ingredients:  whole wheat kernels, whole flaxseeds, salt, barley malt.  A short list is usually a good list!  We added the berries.

Best part.  Found it at Safeway for $2.50 a box.

Caveat:  this is not a gluten free cereal as it contains wheat and barley.
